• We are Australian international school teachers who have been teaching in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, for the past three years. We are finally back in Melbourne and plan to hang around for at least a year!
  We've actually been on the move for five years at this stage, so the one thing we have really, really missed (alongside friends and family!) is having a pet. We are both animal people - between us we grew up with cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, birds and fish. Actually, in our travels we took to frequenting establishments with resident pets that we could smother with affection, always to the delight of the dogs, and occasionally to the displeasure of the cats...(sigh...but it's why we love them!). We are both into fitness and keeping healthy too (actually Andrew teaches PE, and I'm a classical singer), so walking dogs is a pleasure, and we do not smoke.
  Andrew is great in the garden and I am happy to watch him! Just kidding, I am not that bad, though the basil plant on my windowsill would probably argue if it could...
  We have done a lot of house and pet-sitting for friends and family in the past (the nomadic tendencies are not a new thing), and we've now done five house sits (with dogs, cats and chickens) and are booked with three more up to the end of January 2012. We always leave a house better than we found it.
  We are both teaching casually, so our working hours and locations are very flexible. We can provide personal and professional references, and of course being teachers we are always in possession of up-to-date federal police checks. You are free to see these too. We're sure the people we've previously house sat for would also be happy to give a good reference for us if you like.
  Housesitting appeals to us basically because, while we don't really know what we want in the long term, we do know that right now we don't want to stay in one place. We also think we can really offer home and pet owners peace of mind to enjoy their time away.
  Because we are finally home after so long, at the moment we are looking for assignments close to family, so in Melbourne itself (and inner city suburbs are good too) and south from there - basically along the bay from Port Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula, everything in between and heading inland somewhat (anything close to the major freeways makes it easier).
