  We jumped off the treadmill relatively early, met 12-years ago in South America while we were doing voluntary work, and have been managing to balance our lives ever since with some less stressful paid work, voluntary work and lots of travel.

  We are a married couple travelling with our three children aged 7 years, 8 years, and 9 months. We have been home-owners in Adelaide for many years but decided to hit the road in December to live a nomadic lifestyle for a while, moving around the eastern states of Australia. We want to see as many different areas as we can over the next 12 or so months, and would love to look after your house and animals for you on our travels. We are looking for housesits of any length, ideally one to six weeks.   Old-fashioned reliability and a belief that "your word is your bond". I've lived by that all my life and apply it to the house sits I do. I've already done nearly a dozen house sit assignments ranging from Perth to New Zealand and generally involving at least one dog or cat.
  Unlike people looking for long terms I am mostly interested in shorter periods up to four or five weeks. I own my own house on the Gold Coast, and I have a wonderful family and grandchildren, but I do need to have a break now and then.  I have had a sitter mind my place for three months when I visited my son in China, and I had the thought "I should be doing this".
  I have always had my own little dog, but he died and I have not got another one yet, so I have total empathy for how you feel leaving you little animals, with someone who cares..  I feel at this time of my life I have a great opportunity to explore.. I am happy to do my yoga and meditation, I paint and read a lot and luxuriate in that as when I am home I am usually very busy and unwind time is a rarity, so your animals would have fairly constant company, and I would love to look after your little friends, and would respect your home as my own.  I am available now for short or longer term stays.

• Hello, I have been teaching English in Thailand since 1997. My wife takes care of me and our home. Neither of us drink or smoke.
  I was granted the Aged Pension in Australia in December, 2008. In order to take my pension overseas, I must first spend two years in Australia. How better to do this, than by taking care of other people's homes.

  Animal loving family available to care for your home and pets
  We are a married couple travelling with our three children aged 7 years, 8 years, and 9 months. We have been home-owners in Adelaide for many years but decided to hit the road in December to live a nomadic lifestyle for a while, moving around the eastern states of Australia. We want to see as many different areas as we can over the next 12 or so months, and would love to look after your house and animals for you on our travels. We are looking for housesits of any length, ideally one to six weeks. Our timetables are very flexible, so if you have a house/animals you would like us to care for please contact us and we'll see what we can do... (Initial plan is to be in Vic/Tas for a few months, then head up the coast to Vic, NSW and Queensland, then back down again)
  We intend to build our own home once we settle down again, and have a keen interest in environmentally friendly structures. We would love to stay in alternative housing (housesitting in an earthship or a structure built from strawbale, cob or any other green method would be great).
  We are happy to look after animals, maintain veggies patches, etc. We have great respect for other's property (kids have been brought up with same values)- your home will be in good hands. All of us love animals, and the kids can play with your pets and give them as much love and attention as they need.

  We are fortunate to be an early retired couple with successful careers and home-ownership behind us.
  Ric is a former Journalist and Foreign Correspondent who ran newsrooms in various places and for the last few years worked as a lecturer part-time at QUT University in Brisbane. Gill was a senior Fashion Buyer for a large UK company, but became more interested in working with organisations that do some good in the community.
  We jumped off the treadmill relatively early, met 12-years ago in South America while we were doing voluntary work, and have been managing to balance our lives ever since with some less stressful paid work, voluntary work and lots of travel.
  We are fit, healthy, tidy, non-smoking, and reasonably handy around house and garden.  We feel equally comfortable in big cities and the bush and like to divide our time between the two.
  We genuinely like animals of all sorts - having grown up with dogs, cats, sheep and the odd budgie but our desire to keep travelling through our fifties and onwards means we can't keep our own pets.
  As travel and change are a big part of our lives, we are pretty flexible about times and places.  We have a 4WD with a slide-on camper that takes us just about anywhere around Australia.  We spent last year in the Grampians, Victorian Alps, Adelaide, Woodend - Victoria, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
  Having sold our home, we are trying a number of new locations around Australia before deciding where we would like to buy again.
